Varanasi DM inspects flood relief camps, vows support to families

Varanasi District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar conducted an extensive inspection of flood relief camps across the city on September 4, assessing the conditions and assuring flood-affected families of comprehensive assistance.

During his visit, Kumar emphasised the importance of timely meal provision, instructing officials to ensure residents receive breakfast and both main meals promptly. Special attention was directed towards children, who were to be supplied with milk, fruits, and other necessary provisions.

At the Saraswati Vidya Mandir relief camp in Hukulganj, the District Magistrate engaged directly with residents, discussing the arrangements in place. The residents displayed a sense of belonging and satisfaction, evident in their expressions.

While inspecting the relief camp at Deepti Convent School, Hukulganj, Kumar consulted the medical team doctor about the available healthcare services. He ordered that medical personnel be present 24 hours a day to provide continuous care.

Kumar instructed officials to ensure special care and access to essential amenities for vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and pregnant women. He further visited Tulsi Niketan, Hukulganj, and the Primary School at Dhelwaria, speaking with residents and children about the camp facilities, and distributed chocolates to the children.

The District Magistrate also inspected the relief centre at Navyug Vidya Mandir, Dhelwaria, monitoring the arrangements there. During his tour, he examined the kitchen facilities, focusing on food preparation processes and hygiene standards.

Kumar emphasised that under the current circumstances, the district administration’s highest priority is the safety, health, food, and provision of essential basic amenities to flood-affected families. He instructed all concerned departments and officials to remain active in the relief efforts and provide every possible support to those affected by the floods.
